The Doctoral Degree

Do you want to have a wide range of career options available to you after you finish graduate school? Are you interested in doing a combination of professional activities, such as teaching, doing research, and/or therapy? This video covers some of the most common doctoral degrees and what kinds of careers are associated with those degrees.

Here are some examples:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical, Counseling or Experimental Psychology (although a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology does not lead to “licensure”)
  • Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Counseling and Psychology
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in School Psychology
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) with a specialization in Psychiatry
